Please note: you may submit to both the TV Drama and Serial Drama strands of our TV Awards. You may not apply for any other awards in addition to these. If you apply for any other award, your submission will be discounted.

A partnership between Channel Four, Northumbria University and New Writing North

There is one award available. The winner will be offered the unique chance to work closely with Lime Pictures through a mentoring placement on the serial drama Hollyoaks. Each bursary is worth £3,000.

No writing experience is necessary. For these awards, we want to discover new writers from Northern England who would like to work in television. We especially welcome submissions from Black and Minority Ethnic, LGBT and disabled writers, who are particularly under-represented in this area of the TV industry.

You will need to prepare up to ten pages of a script (along with a short synopsis) that demonstrates your ability to write strong dialogue. Please also create an original storyline for Hollyoaks of not more than 600 words. You will also need to write a short statement explaining how you would expect to benefit from the award and why the time is right for you to take on the commitment.
